Through this class, I developed a strong foundation in using digital marketing strategies to support creative and professional goals.

  • This course provided a comprehensive study of building mechanical systems, including electrical, lighting, plumbing, ventilation, heating, and cooling systems. I developed an understanding of how these systems function within the built environment and how they influence occupant comfort, safety, and wellbeing.

Through this coursework, I learned to integrate lighting design principles, thermal comfort strategies, indoor air quality considerations, and water and waste systems into interior design solutions. I also gained experience selecting appropriate luminaires, mechanical systems, and acoustical products.

  • This course focused on material and finish selection, cost evaluation, and specification writing for interior environments. I developed skills in analyzing product specification sheets, understanding performance criteria, and selecting materials based on durability, ergonomics, environmental impact, and life-cycle cost.

Through this coursework, I gained an awareness of fabrication and installation methods, as well as long-term maintenance. I also strengthened my ability to write clear, professional specifications. This class enhanced my confidence in making informed, performance-driven material decisions that support both design intent and practical application.

  • Visual Design I:

This course introduced the fundamentals of visual design and representation through an in-depth exploration of the elements and principles of design. I developed a strong foundation in the design process, conceptual thinking, and visual communication.

The class emphasized color theory, hand drawing, and conceptual sketching. Through both individual and collaborative projects, I refined my presentation skills and learned how to communicate design concepts clearly and effectively. This course laid the groundwork for my creative development and continues to influence my approach to design.

    Visual Design II:

This course focused on the fundamentals of graphic design using Adobe Photoshop, with an emphasis on typography, compositing, color theory, and composition.

Throughout the semester, I developed presentations, infographics, logos, and other visual content, strengthening my ability to translate information into engaging designs. I also gained experience creating layouts for client presentations, refining my ability to convey concepts visually through digital media.

  • This course introduced computer-aided design using industry-standard technology. I developed foundational skills in AutoCAD, including producing design concepts through basic drawing and modification commands.

Through project-based work, I learned to translate ideas into technical drawings and effectively present them using proper printing and plotting procedures. The course also strengthened my understanding of how design technology supports professional practice, reinforcing the importance of precision, organization, and clear visual communication in working drawings.

  • Through both the lower- and upper-level courses, I developed a strong understanding of Revit and its applications in the design profession. I learned to translate conceptual design sketches into accurate, production-ready digital models and create polished graphic presentations to communicate ideas effectively.

These courses strengthened my technical skills and my ability to convey complex design concepts visually, preparing me to use industry-standard digital tools.

  • This course explored textile fibers, yarns, and fabric construction, with a focus on color, design, and finishes. I studied performance and care considerations to make informed fabric selections for both clothing and interior furnishings.

Through lecture and hands-on lab work, I tested fiber content, yarns, fabric construction, color, and finishes, gaining practical experience in evaluating materials for durability and aesthetic quality. This class strengthened my ability to select textiles that support both design intent and long-term performance.

  • This course provided an introduction to the key elements of marketing management and strategy. This entails market segmentation, branding, positioning, consumer research, pricing, marketing communications, and new product development. I developed the ability to identify, explain, and apply core marketing concepts to real-world scenarios.

The course also emphasized the role of ethics in marketing and fostered an understanding of global business environments. This has helped me approach design and client projects with both strategic thinking and cultural awareness.

  • Throughout my studio courses, I have built a strong foundation in both hand-drafting and digital design. In my first studio, I created floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and furniture layouts entirely by hand using an architectural scale. My second studio introduced AutoCAD, where I developed residential plans digitally.

In my third studio, I expanded my focus to both residential and commercial projects. I am applying advanced space planning, material selection, and documentation skills using Revit. My fourth studio concentrated solely on commercial design, allowing me to refine my approach to complex non-residential projects, including construction documents, furniture selection, and code compliance.

  • In this course, I explored the principles of acoustical physics and their applications in the built environment. I learned how sound behaves in different spaces, including reflection and absorption. I also learned how materials, finishes, and room geometry impact acoustical performance.

This knowledge directly informs interior design decisions, allowing me to select finishes, furnishings, and layouts that enhance sound quality or reduce noise. The course strengthened my ability to design spaces that are not only visually appealing but also acoustically optimized for occupant wellbeing.
